 DIRECTOR
GENIFER JACKSON

Hello all STEM Preschool Families and Educators!

My name is Genifer Jackson. I have been working in the education field for 15 years. When I started my journey in the workforce after college, I was trying to find myself. Education was a passion since my childhood which led me to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Early Child Education. However, I did not actually use my degree for almost a decade after graduating. After graduating, I worked in non-profit organizations as a fundraiser and grant writer. I also worked in community development and community relations. Fast forward to 2009, I finally decided to use my degree and became a preschool teacher! I have experience with all ages from 6 weeks to school-agers and haven't looked back since. There has been nothing more fulfilling than working with children and amazing educators every day. Children put a smile on my face and make every day an adventure. They are what motivates me on a daily basis. I have been working on the administrative level of early childhood education for almost 10 years. While working in the early childhood education field, I have found my true calling and passion.

Timeless Teachings in a Changing World

Seeing children enjoy educational activities is what inspires me. Math and Science are two subjects that children lose interest in early in life. I believe that the best teachers are those who create unique lessons that are engaging, fun, and educational while ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom. At STEM Preschool it is all about the child’s experience. We want to ensure your child enjoys learning to maintain a future interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

I am a proud Hokie, member of Virginia Tech’s class of 2008; and Marymount University Alumni. I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education. In my younger years I was the student who loved participating in science projects, looked forward to math class, and loved to build anything! This inspired me to have an interest in studying Pre-med in college. While in college I worked at Blacksburg Child Development Center, where I gained years of experience with infants and younger children. Once I graduated I taught for 5 years in Arlington County Public Schools.

I look forward to providing your family with the best quality, safe and nurturing childcare. I always welcome questions and comments. Please feel free to contact me at any time!

REGIONAL DIRECTOR
EDITHA CORTES

Hello STEM Preschool families, future families, and fellow educators!

My name is Editha B. Cortes, and I am honored to be a part of this vibrant and nurturing community. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, I discovered my passion for working with children early in life. As the eldest grandchild and a close companion to my grandmother, who was deeply involved in church service, I grew up learning the values of compassion, service, and dedication.

As a teenager, I devoted much of my time to support less fortunate children. I spent summers teaching and holidays giving back to families in need, instilling in me a lifelong commitment to education and community service. I hold a degree in Mass Communication, majoring in Broadcasting, and have pursued additional training in Business Management and Early Childhood Education to support my professional journey.

In 2010, I fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to the United States, where I began my career as an educator. I am a proud mother of two wonderful daughters and a dedicated professional with nearly a decade of experience as a Child Daycare Administrator. My mission is to help shape young minds, not only to be knowledgeable but also kind, respectful, and responsible citizens of the world.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy dancing, acting, watching documentaries and movies, scrapbooking, crafting, and organizing. These hobbies reflect my creative spirit and love for learning in all its forms.

I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you. Empowering children to grow, explore, and thrive in a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment.

Warmly,
Editha B. Cortes
